Learn how to configure essential Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams settings to ensure smooth integration with Mio, enabling secure cross-platform messaging.
Hi everyone, welcome back to Mio Academy. I'm Jacob, and in this lesson, we'll cover the essential Google Workspace settings that administrators need to configure before connecting to the Mio app.
These settings ensure smooth integration and secure communication across platforms.
Let’s get started.
In your Google Admin console, navigate to the Apps page and expand the Google Workspace section. Click on Google Chat and scroll down to the ‘chat invitations’ section. Under ‘automatically accept invitations between users at your company,’ select ON and then save.
In the left sidebar, expand the Security tab and then expand the Access and data control tab. Click on API controls, and then MANAGE GOOGLE SERVICES. You will now add Mio as a trusted third-party app.
Select View list under Manage the third-party apps and client IDs for which you’ve configured access.
Click the Add app drop down menu and select OAuth App Name Or Client ID.
In the Configure an OAuth app window, search for Mio and then select the Mio app.
Check the boxes for both client IDs and continue.
On the scope page, select either all users or select org units. If you’d like to choose a specific org unit, please select the one that includes your admins. Continue to the next page.
Under Access to Google Data, select Trusted. Then select Finish to complete the process of adding Mio as a trusted third-party app.
Now, we will exempt Mio as a trusted app in the Google Admin Console. This setting allows Mio admins to set how frequently they need to reauthenticate Mio for Google Workspace.
When your enterprise’s Google Workspace session expires, cross-platform chat is no longer successful. The Mio Bot will send a message directly to Mio administrators requesting reauthentication. By exempting Mio from reauthentication, you can ensure continuous Google Workspace interoperability for your organization.
Let’s return to the Security tab in the left sidebar of the Google Admin Console. Click Access and data control then Google Cloud session control.
Check the box next to Exempt Trusted apps if you have Require reauthentication previously selected. Click Save to confirm.
Providing Mio with domain-wide delegation in the Google Admin console is a crucial part of adding your Google tenant to the Mio Hub. This is necessary in order to sync Google Chat spaces and users for cross-platform messaging with Microsoft Teams.
Under the Security tab in the left menu of your Google Admin console, expand Access and data control and then select API controls. Scroll down to the Domain wide delegation section and click MANAGE DOMAIN WIDE DELEGATION.
Select Add new. In the Add a new client ID window, add the following client ID and OAuth scope information.
You can also copy and paste this information from the Configure platform settings page of the Mio Hub or from our help article. Click Authorize to finalize the process.
Now you can head to your Google Chat and create a new space.
Name your space Native Google Chat space and change the space access permission to anyone within your organization. Add any test users as members of the space. Click Create.
Repeat the first two steps and create another channel called Existing Space.
You’re now ready to import and sync your Google Chat test spaces with Microsoft Teams channels into the Mio Hub.

Hi everyone, welcome back to Mio Academy. I'm Jacob, and in this lesson, we'll cover the essential Microsoft Teams settings that administrators need to configure before connecting to the Mio app. These settings ensure smooth integration and secure communication across platforms.
Let’s get started.
Log in to the Microsoft Teams admin center and navigate to the Teams apps tab in the left sidebar. Click Manage apps then Actions in the upper right-hand corner. From here, select Org-wide app settings.
Turn the Let users install and use available apps by default setting to On. Save your progress.
On the left sidebar under the Teams apps tab, click Setup policies.
Select Global (org-wide default) and click Add apps under Add apps that you want to install. In the pop-up sidebar that appears, search for Mio. Click Select and then Add. Save and confirm to finalize the process.
Note that any changes made to this policy may take 12-48 hours to take effect.
Now you will enable guest access and messaging policies.
Back in the Microsoft Teams admin center, expand the Users tab and click Guest access. The setting for Guest access should be turned On.
Next, scroll down to the Messaging section and ensure that all settings are turned On.
We strongly recommend turning on all features, but at a minimum, Edit sent messages, Delete sent messages, and Chat should be turned On for basic chat functions to work between Google Chat and Microsoft Teams.
Now head over to your Microsoft Teams app. Select Teams on the left and then the plus sign icon. Click Create team.
Set the team type to Public and name your team “Mio Microsoft Team.” Click Create to finalize. Add any test users as members of the team.
Click the three dots next to the team and then select Add channel.
Name the channel "Native Teams Channel" and set the channel type to Standard. Click Create to finalize your new channel.
Repeat this same step with another channel named "Existing Channel."
That’s it! You’re now ready to import your Microsoft Teams test channels into the Mio Hub. Be sure to watch the previous lesson on configuring Google Workspace settings if you haven’t already.
